Born to demon parents, Umbra was left in an orphanage for unknown reasons as a baby. She was adopted by angels and brought to heaven. There, she was raised and taught the ways of the angelic beings. Her name means Eternal Shadow, and was bestowed upon her by her adoptive parents in reference to her demonic heritage. While not a nephilim in the strictest understanding of the term, Umbra considers herself as such since it is the closest she can get to a title that encompasses both halves of her identity.Heaven is not the paradise it is said to be, and Umbra felt trapped in a golden cage living there. However, hell also did not feel like home. She decided to come to Earth to meet new human (and supernatural) friends and start her own life!With her understanding of both heaven and hell, Umbra became the perfect fit for the Ouroboros Project. As the fourth rider and the harbinger of death, she acts as a lantern to guide souls to their final destination. She believes it is an inevitability that most, if not all, beings will cross her path and wants to ensure they are cared for and guided to the appropriate location. She also wants to be a light for those who may try to knock on death's door early and strives to make meaningful connections with all the human beings (beans) who come into contact with her. Perhaps the Ouroboros Project gives her a new purpose or perhaps she is making her own path with the Project's resources. Whichever it is, Umbra is more than happy to meet new friends and light the way for those who meet her.Ater leaving the Ouroboros Project, Umbra began to search once again for a way to observe the wondrous world around her while keeping an eye on the moon. She settled upon building the Eclipse Observatory, a space where she could observe both humans and the cosmos in search of answers to questions even she is not yet aware of. All she knows is that she feels a pull towards humanity and its fragile yet resilient nature and to the moon whose ever-changing nature calls a part of her soul that longs for home. With her loyal Guardians by her side, Umbra now tends to the Observatory and waits for the next major eclipse.

A reliable group of adorable little gargoyles, the Guardians are a large part of the daily operations of the Eclipse Observatory. They work closely with Umbra to ensure that observations are recorded, experiments run smoothly, and that guests feel welcome. The Guardians' gargoyle heritage grants them a measure of magical abilities, the extent of which even the Guardians themselves are unaware of. Perhaps one day, the celestial bodies will align and the Guardians will be awoken to their true power.
